FAS5022- Designing and cutting for stretch fabric
Stretch fabrics pose specific design and manufacturing challenges and opportunities. Techniques differ significantly to those used for woven fabrics. This Project enables students to explore the possibilities presented by this group of fabrics. The essence of the project is design, led by creative cutting experimentation.
- Investigation into the variety of stretch fabrics available, their applications and properties. (through
- research, fabric store visits, experimentation and techniques)
- Self-directed research to gain an insight into the potential of working with stretch fabric.
- Experimental work on the stand to gain an understanding of fit and drape specific to stretch fabrics.
- Toile making and manufacturing skills specific to stretch fabrics.
- Design specific to the properties of stretch fabrics.
FAS5022- Styling for editorial
Fashion styling for editorial introduces students to the process and planning of a fashion shoot for a
fashion publication, while working with the constraints of market and commercial demands, seasonal
trends and collaboration. The module is integral for students to realise their individual strengths and
develop a personal methodology, which translates conceptual ideas and research into sensitive visual
outcomes.
We were expected to produce a magazine edited and style all by us, based on the research of that
particular magazine. we researched the magazine over the decades, since the beginning till the latest
print.
